Often, a patient has a specific need that brings him/her to the office. We will address that need on your first visit, but we will also do a thorough evaluation of your teeth, gums and jaw joints. This typically requires a current Full Mouth Series of x-rays. If you have not had one within the last 3-5 years, we will take one as needed. If your previous Dentist has a current set, please have it sent to our office, or ask us to send for it. We will need this before your first appointment.
Your gum (periodontal) health will be evaluated. If it has been more than six months since your last cleaning, our Hygienist will clean your teeth. If it has been more than one year, you may need to have your cleaning done in two visits. Greater than 2 years may require multiple visits depending on the amount of tartar build-up you have.
Dr. Neff or Dr. Linn will do a screening examination of your jaw joints and your oral tissues. If you have a history of TMJ problems and are still having problems, they will let you know if you need a more extensive evaluation. If there are concerns about possible oral cancer, they will refer you to a specialist immediately. |
