Dr. James J. Neff is originally from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire followed by Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Upon graduating in 1972, Dr. Neff served on active duty in the United States Air Force as a dentist and gained valuable experience working one on one with highly trained specialists.

In 1974 he moved his family to Winsted and started a family dental practice. He worked alone except for extern dental students that he mentored in the late seventies and early eighties. His first full time associate was Dr. Gorecki who worked with him in Winsted until he began his own practice in Willmar. They continued to practice together in Waverly for 10 years. They closed that clinic because they both were too busy in their main clinics. Dr. Neff continues to have associates working with him in order to accomodate the needs of our patients.

In addition to his practice, Dr. Neff is a member of the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, the Minneapolis District Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry and the 21st Century Dental Study Club. He is committed to continuing education, taking many hours of additional training each year in courses such as esthetic dentistry, oral pathology, implants, endodontics, pharmacology, temporomandibular and oral facial pain, and orthodontics. Dr. Neff is a graduate of the Donavan Academy of Orthodontics, and received certificates for completion of the United States Dental Institute two-year course in Orthodontics/Orthopedics and Post-Graduate Course in Orthodontics from the Mid-America Orthodonic Society.

In 2006, Dr. Neff became certified to straighten teeth using Invisalign technology. He is also certified in Lumineers.

Dr. Neff serves on the board of Vernacular Video Missions International and often goes on mission trips to third world countries. He is a 5th degree black belt in Shotokan karate. He and his wife, Mary, enjoy SCUBA diving, swimming, bicycling, kayaking, reading, and are active in their Christian faith.
